on cloud 48009

We spent a beautiful sunny day in downtown Birmingham at the fair. Grandpa Joe generously paid for passes for the girls so they really got to ride this time. Grandma Paula had to work today but at least she will have fun in NYC later this week. Yesterday we spent the morning at Greenfield Village. It was on the cool side and light rain at times so it was virtually empty. I had left my camera charger up north so I was without my camera yesterday. Later on Saturday we did some geocaching and turned our neighbor on to it as well.

Mikey and especially Petey went NUTS over this sword and sheath they got at the fair. Petey went absolutely hysterical over it until he was able to hold it in his hand. It was hilarious.

I have to say those driving lessons for the kids really paid off and getting them that Corvette too. They really were able to get around with the bumper cars, even Isabel!

Pray Park

We found the water turned on today at the spray park or pray park as Mikey calls it. I didn't want to go home and get their swim suits on and we already had towels in the van so we just went it with their clothes but they had SUCH a good time anyways. I got pretty wet myself and the camera too but fortunately it still works. The little girls that were there were enamoured with the Mikey & Petey.

Some cute stories about the boys. Last night they slept together and were holding hands in their sleep. Then this morning I went in to check on them and Mikey was fast asleep but Petey was awake with a cute content look on his face and he was resting his head on Mikey.

Yesterday and Today

On Monday morning we left Traverse City with Grandpa & Grandma and heading to Sturgis for a short visit with Grandma Alice before heading home. A total of close to 400 miles in a day although the girls got to ride in the "fun car" with Grandma Rose & Grandpa Bob but first we stopped at the Omelet Shop for a nice breakfast.

Grandma Alice continues to improve daily thanks to her steady stream of visitors (or perhaps in spite of :)), cards, prayers and wells wishes. Petey really enjoyed using her walker after crawling right to it like a little puppy dog. It was getting late in the day and Grandma was tired so after seeing her back to the nursing home and playing in the park across the street we were back on the road again. Many, Many thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for rolling out the red carpet for us. Grandma Rose made really cute embroidered goodies bags for each of the kids to take on the way home.

Today is my birthday and so far me and the boys have spent it at the park and train watching. Time for some lunch.

remember to hug a vet!

I heard a statistic that our WWII veterans are now dying at the rate of about 2,000 every day so remember to pray for our military past and present this Memorial Day.Here is the final scene from Saving Private Ryan

God Bless America

We took a trip out to Old Mission Penninsula last night although it was too cloudly for a good sunset. We came back home and had a nice bonfire and smores though.

This morning Grandpa Bob and Maria made a delicious breakfast of waffles and sausages and then we walked along the road behind the house and picked wild asparagus. We found a little chickadee nest too and then went swimming at the resort.

Grandpa Bob grilled up some awesome burgers and steaks for dinner and then we did some geocaching. Tommorow we all head back down state to Sturgis to see Grandma Alice.

a memorable weekend

On Friday Leigh went with Isabel and the Kindergartners to the Lane Animal Hospital in Chelsea. It is owned and operated by the Lane family from school and so they invited the class to come see what goes on at a veterinarian's office. After school we went straight to Grandma & Grandpa's house for the Memorial Day weekend. So far we've been to Elk Rapids for an Art Fair, hits some garage sales, checked out the beach and the girls favorite tree, went swimming at the resort and treasure hunting with the metal detector.
