All Saints Festival
Maria was Saint Maria Faustina, a nun who lived in Poland in the 1930's and received the Divine Mercy message directly from our Lord. Carmen was Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, daughter of King Andrew II of Hungary (1207-1231). Isabel was Saint Cecilia, a martyr from the early Church.

Happy Belated Birthday to Me!
Well SC did finally pull through with some sun in time for my birthday. Wednesday, the day I turned 35, I actually woke up to sun coming in through the window! Peter and I took a bike ride in the morning and then after everyone got around that morning, we headed into down town Columbia for some shopping and lunch. We had a great lunch at the Mellow Mushroom and then went home for SURPRISE! hot fudge cake after a nice nap in the car while grandpa and aunt Erin bought some hardware to fix the tub (what would a visit from mom and dad be without a fix-it?)
It was 76 degrees and sunny and after another game, we reluctantly left for the airport at Myrtle Beach. Peter was absolutely great during our travels and even with a delay on our flight home (hey, you get what you pay for - that was the $6 leg of the journey!) he managed to keep up the good work the whole way home.
Today, I am staying up WAY to late and getting this blog posted after 4 short hours of sleep last night, 4 hours of work today, driving back and forth from school to work to home and then back again for 4 hours of class this evening.
I had a great trip though and I am so grateful for my wonderful, wonderful family - my immediate birth family and my wonderful, wonderful family - my family of Mike and my kids. God is so, so good and I can't wait to experience all that 35 has to offer!

Is it ever sunny in South Carolina?
Mommy is not so sure. Every time of the three times she has visited, it has been overcast and rainy and bleh. Ah well, at least we have good times with family and yummy food to make up for it!
The trip started out with all kinds of adventure (or misadventure you might say), we all slept in the same hotel room last night: grandma Alice, grandma Rose and grandpa Bob, mommy and Peter. Mommy thought Peter might haven gotten up a time or two, but apparently it was closer to a dozen! So after a very restless night and a 4am bright and early wake-up call we were packed and on the shuttle on the way to the airport. Thanks to grandma Alice's wheelchair, we got to skip the SUPER long line through security and got to the gate with time to spare. We got on the plane with no problems but as soon as we were preparing for take off, Peter let it all go. Mommy ended up with a really warm lap that smelled awfully suspicious. Yuck. What an ugly way to spend sitting stuck in a chair for 15 minutes of the climb until they turned off the seatbelt sign and another 15 minutes of turbulence...in a cramped airplane bathroom. He was relatively well behaved other than that, flirting with the women behind us and amusing himself with an Mp3 player and mommy's cell phone.
We arrived in Myrtle Beach before 9:00am and got our rental car with no problems. Peter finally took about an hour and a half nap on the 3 hour drive to Columbia and we were able to meet Aunt Maeve at her work at DHEC and see her new office. Peter especially liked the fountain out front! After a quick tour we headed to the homestead at 808 Corley for lunch with Aunt Erin and Kendall. We got one of mommy's favorites - Moe's - and Kendall and Peter got to know each other and mommy and grandma Rose taught Aunt Maeve how to play Qwirkle while grandpa and Aunt Erin checked into the hotel and checked out the pool while grandma Alice took a nap.
After a relaxing afternoon, we all took a walk through the neighborhood and mommy and Aunt Erin even took turns riding Peter on the bike. We found a cute little lizard on the front porch that mommy just wished she could take home for the girls and Mikey to see in real life, they would have loved it! Not too long after we got back from our walk, Uncle Aaron came home from school and we all went out to dinner at a local restaurant - Cedar Cabin. Petey finally got his appetite back after not feeling well for a few days which was nice (or seemed nice at the time, just keep reading...) even though he didn't want to leave mom's lap at dinner.
When we got home we enjoyed some Dancing with the Stars and Kendall and Peter had a bath. Kendall was a good girl and went right to bed, but Peter was very unhappy to be separated from his peanut butter M&Ms and ended up getting so upset he held his breath and gagged himself and puked in Aunt Maeve's bed before retiring for the night. Mommy is having unseemly flashbacks to our last visit and wondering if we'll ever make a visit here when Peter is well and in good spirits ???
All in all our first day - though very long and certainly involved some misadventure - was not bad and we're looking forward to possibly checking out the Zoo Boo tomorrow and maybe a market fair downtown. Mommy is hoping very much for a little fellow in better spirits and with a better constitution when we start our day tomorrow. We might take Kendall and Peter swimming tomorrow if so because they both seem to really enjoy the water as you can see!!
