So as I have since 2016, I headed down to SC for my 4th time at Pledge the Pink. A 3-day, 3-island, 30-mile walk (10 each day) in the "low country" of South Carolina (why it was originally called LoCoMotion). It was a wonderful time - my second time traveling kidless this year - and after probably the worse illness of my adult life (down and out with respiratory something for 3 full days and mostly miserable sick for going on 5 weeks), it was a much needed time of rest and relaxation (you know outside of the 20,000K+ steps I walked two of the three days).
"Fancy" the Flamingo is the mascot so there are flamingos everywhere. This is me resting on one after escaping two miles in the woods of being eaten alive in the heat and humidity. I'll say one thing for those bugs, they kept me moving!
This is Stevie on the left and Laura on the right. They are faithful organizers of the 3-day event and work all year long - this year they raised over $300,000!!
It doesn't really do it justice but a picture of the "world record breaking" flock of flamingos - each one represents $100 raised (or $50 I can't remember)...
Above Erin's hands are blackened as she attempted to ride the bike about 2 miles from our house to the finish line on Day 2. The bike chain came off and she could not get it back on!
Day Two on Dataw Island - which was a new island this year - the residents set up an Alice in Wonderland themed respite. They really went all out. On the right is my "I'm all done" face.

This year as the homebase was Fripp Island for the first time (instead of Hilton Head) we got to have a golfcart parade which was a hoot! I should have gotten more pictures but there were so many creative carts and we partied hardy on ours though our decorations may have been sub-par ;)
The DJ gives out prizes. Last year I got one of these coconut heads since it was my birthday. Lisa and Erin earned theirs by dancing and singing song lyrics!

The fence of bras went on and on, it was really well done! On Friday night we took a sunset dolphin cruise which was a lot of fun...we didn't get to see the sun go all the way down due to clouds, but we saw lots of dolphins and even an Eagle with a fish in it's beak flying overhead.

On Sunday afternoon mom and dad came down to Fripp and spent the night. Monday was my birthday and Erin flew out of Savannah and Maeve and I flew out of Hilton Head so we stopped in Beaufort for lunch together.
On Saturday night I went to Mass and about a 1/2 mile away was Boondocks - we had the cutest, not-even-18-year-old waitress and some really good southern comfort food.
Val and Dianne have come before with their sister/daughter Lisa who made these koozies for us!

Our last night we rode around on the golf cart to check out the sunset but missed it again b/c the battery was dying and we wanted to get home before dark since we basically didn't have much idea where we were. LOL
