Of course May starts off with the birthday of one of the best people I've ever had the pleasure to meet and know and love - our very own, Maria Christina DeVries!
She came for the weekend and all she wanted to do was have a late breakfast at Anna's House and Mikey was kind enough to watch over all the littles so Mike and I could go out with her and Tyler.
May ends with Memorial Day and I'm not sure when they started it but in Plymouth, they do a cool, low key parade through all the neighborhoods with fire trucks, police cars and old cars with Veterans driving, riding or featured. So the parade comes to us (which is IMO the only way to have a parade!) The neighbors across the street combine it with a Memorial Day party which was nice for Paulina who got to go over and swim in their new pool!!
When I had a day off and Mike was in Texas with Isabel, I had four Ekblads over for the day and Lulu and Jude have about all the same favorites so usually they play together and then Paulina, Josie, Fran and Buddy play together.
Mateo's fall flag football got canceled so we signed him up for a spring league. He started off QBing but the coaches are really great about getting all the guys in different positions so he's been a "Wide Receiver" and "Running Back" as well.
Over Memorial Day weekend (Saturday) we were able to drive over to Shelby-area and spend some time on the land where Tyler's parents are building a beautiful house. Though the lake isn't that great for swimming, their current yard is like a perfect beach...though it was supposed to be cool the first day (and was for a bit) when the sun came out it was beautiful! We grilled burgers and just hung out.
Of course May also means celebrating Mike's birthday! Though we didn't really do a darn thing on the actual day, we had birthday celebrations at both grandparents' houses.
Mom and Dad also celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in May 2022. They went to St John's Newfoundland after watching a show they really enjoyed and Maeve, Erin and I were able to FaceTime them and have a "toast" on the actual day which was quite fun (and chaotic of course!)
May is also Mother's Day - no boys wanted to smile, but at least I got the 5 youngest to go to Mass with me (and Carmen and Mike) at Saint Pat's in Brighton. Friends of ours sing at the 11:30 Mass and it is my FAVORITE!!!
Lulu got some Paw Patrol roller skates in her Easter Basket!
Lulu went to a couple of Mateo's flag football games with me and met another younger sibling, Jenna, who she enjoys playing with. I just cracked up at her poses on the bleachers!
The warm weather means lots of time at the lake on Sundays. It's so nice how close Paula's place is to the little beach area and the girls even got brave enough to jump off the dock (but I couldn't really get pictures because they jumped too fast and though I got video, I can't figure out how to reliably upload a video to Blogger anymore).
We also fit in a visit to my grandma! Tyler and Maria met me and Paulina there before caravanning back to our house for the weekend.
Our last day of ballet class was little sister Gemma's birthday so Sarah made us cupcakes and the dancers had a little playdate since they won't be back for dance until early August for dance camp!
Alexandria was able to visit prior to going home to Mexico! Mike bought a Henry Ford membership just to take her since she was with us while Carmen had to work on a yucky, rainy day!
Peter has quickly gotten taller than me!

We also took as many "forced family fun" walks at our favorite place to walk (the Arboretum off of Hines Drive) as we could.
