November: Winter begins!

A pic of Paulina that got posted after All Saints - though her report was on St Therese she was a princess Saint for the party at school...St Margaret of Scotland I think we settled on so we could wear the dress and tiara :)
Just some silly pics from home.

Thank goodness Mateo's football season ended the first weekend of November. It was gorgeous weather and who would know that one week later we'd be getting an epic snow on November 11/Veteran's Day of 8-10"!!! I'm really glad we didn't have to bundle up for that!

Birthday Cookie for me at Grandma Paula's :)

The first weekend in November I also hosted a little birthday get-together for my 45th. It was about 8-9 moms and 2 babies. Nice low key but also late night! I think I went to bed at 2am...which is too late for 45 year old ladies ;)

The Brighton Condo got to host a few birthday parties this November. Aaron Mason threw Maeve a party for her 40th birthday and Val and Lisa both flew up from SC. He also invited me, his two besties and their spouses and his brother and his wife. We had a full condo, fired up euchre, Michigan win over State and just a little smidge of drama. Maeve ended the night with dinner out at an Irish pub and dueling pianos at another Irish bar...someone (me) was asleep and missed that but it was fun!

Paulina has been a very "emotional" 5 year old. This was her trying to smile but not being able to pull it off. It made me think of the book "Just for You" that was mine as a kid and I've read to the kids...

I tried to smile just for you, but I was too grumpy.

Even Lucy tried to cheer her up.
Finally it was making a wish on a dandelion that did it.
The littlest kids and I went to Christ the King on Saturday, December 9 as the Servants of God's Love (Sisters from the girls high school) were having a bazaar. We got so many fun gift items!!

Isabel babysat for Hannah one day and she stayed for a bit with Amelia.
This is Paulina with her 7th grade "buddy" making Thanksgiving Feast hats at school.

Fun in the leaves the day before 10 inches of snow came!!!

Peter got a chance to celebrate with a friend for his birthday. The family took 3 5th grade boys home from school Friday and they all went to a UM Basketball Game. First they hit M-Den (and all got a present! matching shirts!) then BW3 for dinner and then meeting the coach and one of the Fab 5!

The coach and two other boys from school. Pretty neat!

Now we wait a whole agonizing week to find out if Isabel gets to start EMU classes and to see Maria for the Thanksgiving Break. Because I missed her fall break it feels like forever since I've seen her!!

All Hollow's Eve and All Saints Day - October ends...

Maria came home for her fall break while I was at Pledge the Pink in SC. We literally missed each other by hours and/or minutes in the DTW airport both ways of travel :(
She got to experience the impish Lucy and a great spread by Grandma Paula of course!
Paulina had a field trip - the first of Kindergarten - and daddy took her while grandma watched Lulu.
