this week

Mateo rolling dough that he made in Atrium class which we baked into bread.
Mary & Rita have been staying with us this week while their parents are enjoying a business vacation in Hawaii. They sent us a photo of themselves and I think it was the happiest I have ever seen them :)
It worked out well because the kids have been enjoying it too
Maria and the other girls really enjoyed a trip to the Jewish Holocaust Museum, if I can use the term "enjoyed". The highlight of the visit was the time they spent with Henry a very spry Jewish Holocaust  survivor 91 years "young". He and his family were taken to a concentration camp when he was 16 years old. His parents, along with many others, were killed immediately but he was forced to work there for 4 years till the camp was liberated by American forces. Amazingly, his 2 brothers also survived and live in New York City.

you've come a long way baby

I scanned a few photographs from Maria's first summer up north back in 1999
She was finally getting a little meat on her bones at this point!
I always loved this photo of Maria & Mommy yawning at the same time
