As much as I tried to savor June after a wonderful May, July came and went before I even had a chance to realize it was here! It feels like the 4th of July was just yesterday but apparently it wasn't because everything is telling me it's somehow July 26 today!
Two weekends later after Carmen and Lucy had spent 10 days in Cincy house/cat-sitting while the Masons were all in Hawaii I was able to take the younger girls to hang with Kendall and Avery for the weekend while their parents whisked off to Nashville with friends for a Monday concert. We got to go to the pool every day but Monday when it unfortunately rained during my open hours while not working.
Paulina got sick at the pool (I'm guessing over-eating while swimming and hot?) but Gert was there to be supportive while she recovered.
While the existential angst and roles of feminism, capitalism and the patriarchy were lost on Lucy, the rest of us enjoyed the Barbie movie and decided we are all #kenough
Carmen and Mateo got a great photo shoot in while we were gone - taking a walk with dad I assume
Since they didn't leave until Saturday, Maeve was generous enough to get us all Red's tickets and we got to see a grand slam, the Reds win AND fireworks on Friday night! What a great night!
Isabel got a job hostessing at Mani Osteria (an Italian place) in Ann Arbor. Mike and I were able to make a little date night to visit her and the management was so kind to give us a free app and a % off our bill!
Another lovely July event was the wedding of Isabel's childhood friend, Grace. Her mom and I are friends and the girls have known each other since Kindergarten! Above we got to reconnect with our beloved Mr. Miller and below Isabel took some time off being bridesmaid to cuddle baby Joseph who (I think?) shares a godfather with our new grandbaby Rosie! He's Mary Cosier (Bischoff) second child and her brother Andy graduated with Maria and lives in GR and Tyler and Maria just asked him to be Rosie's godfather :)
Below are some more photos of our Devries weekend. It is utterly amazing the changes that have been made since we were last here and the sweat equity that Kelly and Paul have put in to create a home for entertaining and relaxing is so impressive!
We've definitely been to better/closer fireworks but when Kensington had theirs I decided on a whim to take the two girls and do what I used to do when the big kids were young. Buy a bunch of junk food at the gas station and then watch the show. As you can see the fireworks happened in between storm cells and though we were far away, at least the traffic wasn't bad when it came time to leave!
Not the best quality pics but I have to steal stuff to see my girls. Isabel and Carmen took a day trip up north to Elk Rapids with some friends and hit all the highlights!
While we were at DeVries since Mikey had to work Saturday but not Sunday he ended up going to Cedar Point. Take pictures I said. Ok he said. The lone picture I was sent (by his friend Jolie) is below. SMH. Deez kids.
